Old Fedora Icons

Using Fedora 11 with the default settings it strikes me that although most of the interface and icons seems reasonably modern there’s a few glaring exceptions. See the image below from the Control Centre.

The ‘Network’ and ‘Network Device Control’ icons look like they haven’t been updated in years, in fact I’m sure they’re the same as when I started using Fedora Core 4. They’re not terrible but they certainly stand out as being different from the rest. Maybe Fedora 12 will show them some love….

Bluecurve used to be the default icon theme up to Fedora Core 6. Install bluecurve-icon-theme, and the following associations will be made once Bluecurve has been selected. Bluecurve icons look still way better than the GNOME 1.x ones that you criticize above. They certainly weren’t displayed for FC4-FC6 where we have

Yeah, it also strikes me every time I try a new release of Fedora. If I decide to use a specific distro every day, then a uniform desktop look can be a deciding factor to me. Too bad it looks like this won’t change in Fedora 12…
