Subscribed to LXF Magazine

September 30th, 2008

Even though I think the internet is a great source of information I still like to pick up a good magazine once in a while. It’s for this reason I’ve subscribed to Linux Format, in Denmark it costs a small fortune to buy from a shop so I’ve subscribed for a year.

A major, and unexpected bonus, of doing this means that when you go to the website and enter your subscriber number you can download either individual articles or whole issues in pdf format. This effectively gives you every back issue for free, what a service!

Apart from that it’s great to have a Linux magazine where I’m interested in nearly every article. Many computer magazines inevitably cater for Windows when reviewing software or hardware so even though they may be cheaper and have more content there’s less to interest me.

The tutorials are also great, one I saw involved building a speaking RSS feed reader using festival and python, not your average project but an interesting idea and remarkably easy to achieve.
